art-ed

Larry “talking art” with Troy University international students during an exhibition at the Johnson Center for the Arts in Troy, Alabama.

Since moving to Alabama, I have been blessed and extremely fortunate to be surrounded by passionate and extremely talented students, colleagues, and mentors. I could not have imagined all the opportunities, nor the events that would transpire that would open the doors to the achievements and accolades that have come my way. Each of these achievements vividly reflect the integrity, passion and perseverance of those that I have been so fortunate to collaborate with, especially my art education majors at TROY. Many of them ignored “advice” and mythical stereo’hype’ that “Alabama does not hire art teachers” and have advocated for what they know to be true: Strong “quality” art programs enhance any school environment and positively impact school climate and student achievement for those involved in the arts.
